Location Blasting Policy

Overview

Quicky Hire’s Location Blasting Policy governs the practice of posting the same job across multiple locations. This policy aims to maintain the relevance and accuracy of job search results, ensuring that job seekers find opportunities that match their actual work locations.

Note: This policy does not apply to employers based in the United States. U.S.-based employers should refer to our Appropriate Use of Location article.

Policy Statement

When the same job is advertised in multiple locations, such postings may require sponsorship to appear in search results. This measure helps prevent irrelevant job listings and ensures a high-quality search experience for job seekers.

What is Location Blasting?

Location blasting occurs when an employer posts the same job role outside of the primary location where the job seeker will actually work. This practice can lead to redundant and misleading search results, diminishing the user experience.

Examples of Location Blasting

  • Multi-Location Blasting: A technology company headquartered in Seattle, WA, seeks a software developer to work on-site at their Seattle office. They also post identical job listings in Atlanta, GA, and Austin, TX to attract developers in those cities.
  • Single-Location Blasting: A start-up based in San Jose, CA, posts a copy of their job in San Francisco, CA, assuming that employees commonly commute between these two cities.

Non-Blasting Scenario

Posting the same role in different cities where the job seeker will genuinely work is not considered location blasting. For example, a chain restaurant hiring servers for multiple locations in distinct cities during a busy season is acceptable.

Action Against Location Blasting

Location blasting artificially broadens the search radius for a job, increasing the chances of the job appearing in irrelevant search results for job seekers. To maintain the integrity of job listings and enhance the search experience, Quicky Hire may require sponsorship for roles identified as location blasting.

Compliance Requirements

Employers must adhere to the following guidelines to avoid location blasting:

  1. Accurate Location Posting: Ensure that job listings accurately reflect the primary work location of the position.
  2. Avoid Redundant Listings: Do not post the same job across multiple locations unless each listing corresponds to a distinct and legitimate work site.
  3. Sponsorship for Multiple Locations: If posting the same role in multiple locations is necessary, employers must sponsor these listings to ensure they meet Quicky Hire’s quality and transparency standards.

Consequences of Non-Compliance

Failure to comply with the Location Blasting Policy may result in:

  • Reduced Visibility: Job postings identified as location blasting may receive lower visibility in search results.
  • Sponsorship Requirements: Employers may be required to sponsor location-blasted job listings to maintain their visibility.
  • Job Removal: Persistent or severe violations may lead to the removal of job postings from Quicky Hire’s platform.

Purpose

The Location Blasting Policy is designed to protect job seekers from encountering irrelevant job listings and to promote a more efficient and accurate job search experience. By enforcing this policy, Quicky Hire ensures that job postings are relevant and accurately represent the work locations, fostering trust and reliability within our job marketplace.
